    Assistant Professor – Genetics

The Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology at the University of Florida (UF) College of Medicine invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Genetics. The Department has begun a major expansion of the faculty as part of a 5-year strategic plan (see accompanying ad for virologist). We seek outstanding creative investigators in any area of genetics, including but not limited to gene expression and regulation, functional genomics and systems biology, developmental genetics, immunogenetics, molecular mechanisms of disease, evolutionary genetics, and other related fields.

The Department has active research programs in mammalian (human, mouse), Drosophila, viral, bacterial, cancer, and comparative genetics, together with expertise in gene discovery, genome editing, transcriptional and co/post-transcriptional regulation, RNA biochemistry disease mechanisms, structural biology, protein biochemistry, multi-omics, and computational biology. The Department offers a highly collegial and collaborative environment and interactions with numerous Colleges (Agriculture, Engineering, Liberal Arts and Sciences, Medicine, Public Health and Health Professions), Institutes (Emerging Pathogens, Genetics, McKnight Brain) and Centers (Cancer, CDC Southeastern Center of Excellence in Vector Borne Diseases, Inflammation & Mucosal Immunology, NeuroGenetics, NIH Southeast Center for Integrated Metabolomics) that foster interdisciplinary research at UF. Further information about the Department can be found at https://mgm.ufl.edu.

A pillar of the UF College of Medicine is diversity, inclusion, and equity (https://med.ufl.edu/about/strategic-plan/).
