The Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Des Moines University is seeking a qualified individual for a 12-month, open-rank, tenure-track faculty position. This individual will participate in teaching immunology to graduate and professional students in various medical, biomedical, and allied-health fields, will maintain a program of scholarly activity as evidenced by peer reviewed publication and/or the submission of extramural grant applications, and will serve in academic governance responsibilities.

In 2023 Des Moines University (DMU) relocated to a new 88-acre campus in West Des Moines, Iowa. This state-of-the-art campus includes technology-rich, flexible education spaces that support innovative teaching methods and connect faculty and students across all of our programs. Our new research facilities include a vibrant and spacious open laboratory, designed to foster collaboration and innovation. Core research spaces include an AAALAC accredited animal care facility, cell culture facilities, and core equipment for cell, protein, and nucleic acid imaging and analysis.

The successful candidate must have a PhD in Immunology or a related field, and relevant postdoctoral experience. A proven record of achievement in medical or health professions education, and a history of scholarly productivity are essential for appointment to the rank of Associate or Full Professor. Scholarly activity in the form of educational research would also be considered. To apply applicants must use DMU’s online submission portal: www.dmu.edu/employment. A curriculum vitae, cover letter, contact information for three professional references (letters may be requested at a later date), a statement of future scholarly goals and objectives, and a one-page teaching philosophy are required at time of online submission. The teaching philosophy should provide evidence of the candidate’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusivity in teaching and mentoring students. Application review will begin immediately, and position will remain open until filled.
